Dubai's Smart Rental Index is being extended to offices and off-plan sales

Dubai's Smart Rental Index will be extended to commercial property and off-plan sales, Dubai Land Department Director General Omar Hamad BuShehab said on 23 September 2026. No date was given for either extension.

BuShehab, who also chairs Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, was speaking at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum at Dubai World Trade Centre. More than 1,000 leaders from government and the private sector attended. His session was chaired by Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai.

He also gave a space comparison. At around USD 1,000,000, a home in Dubai comes with 58 per cent more space than in New York, 65 per cent more than in London and 55 per cent more than in Singapore.

Other measures he listed were fewer steps in Dubai Land Department customer journeys, more housing types, and rental market performance indicators to show investors where supply is thin. The residential index has been running since January 2025.
