Dubai truck restrictions from 1 October 2026: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Qudra, Al Meydan and three villa areas

The Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police announced new truck restrictions on 26 September 2026, effective 1 October 2026. The rules set three tiers of ban.

Banned around the clock: Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, the Airport Tunnel and all crossings.

Banned from 6am to 10pm: Sheikh Zayed Road, Beirut Street, and the residential districts of Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah and Oud Al Muteena.

Banned in three windows, 6:30am to 8:30am, 1pm to 3pm and 5:30pm to 8pm: Airport Street, Oman Street and Damascus Street.

Emirates Road is excluded from the restrictions. Trucks needing to move in a banned window can apply for a Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles in Banned Times and Roads, issued through the website of the RTA's Right of Way department. The permit is not automatic.

The RTA has finished 14 of 16 truck rest areas across 6 locations and expanded 7 of them by 364 spaces, a rise of 50 per cent, bringing total capacity to 1,007 places. About 150,000 trucks a month use them. The RTA is also rebuilding the Al Meydan Street corridor under contracts worth AED 1.161 billion.
