Dubai School Zone Road Upgrades Complete for 2026-27: RTA Opens a New Link From Al Qudra Road to Hessa Street Through Motor City

The Roads and Transport Authority completed a summer programme of road upgrades around six Dubai school zones ahead of the 2026-27 academic term. Works covered more than 10 schools in Wadi Al Safa 4, Al Barsha, Umm Al Sheif, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City and Al Sufouh, carried out during the school holidays to avoid closing busy streets while traffic was lighter.
Key changes
A new road now links Al Qudra Road with Hessa Street through Motor City and Studio City, giving direct access to GEMS Metropole School. Parking at Horizon International School in Umm Al Sheif has been doubled. Entrances and exits on the service road at the Al Barsha South schools complex were reworked to reduce queuing at drop-off. At-grade improvements were made near The International School of Choueifat in Al Sufouh, and the road past GEMS Winchester School in Wadi Al Safa 4 received traffic-calming measures. The RTA has asked parents to use the designated drop-off points now in place.
