Dubai Fourth Corridor approved: 80km road to link Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah with 12 lanes

Dubai's Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, signed off the emirate's Fourth Corridor on 16 September 2026. The route runs from Al Faya Road on the Abu Dhabi side to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah, covering about 80 kilometres with 12 lanes across both directions, 72 bridges, 17 tunnels and 45 stormwater culverts. Capacity is set at 24,000 vehicles an hour.
Phase 1 covers roughly 30 kilometres from Al Shanouf Road to the Dubai-Al Ain Road, costing about AED 3.5 billion. It cuts that journey from 35 minutes to 14 and serves around 600,000 people. It also widens the Dubai-Al Ain Road from 3 to 4 lanes in each direction between Emirates Road and Lehbab Road and upgrades 4 intersections.
Phase 2 adds 50 kilometres from the Dubai-Al Ain Road to Al Faya Road, cutting that leg from 50 minutes to 24. Combined, the corridor is expected to serve more than 3.1 million people. It passes Al Maktoum International Airport, runs alongside the Etihad Rail route, and skirts the Al Marmoom and Al Wohoosh desert reserves. No opening date has been set.
