Chinese companies at DMCC pass 1,000: what 9.4% growth in a year means for JLT offices

DMCC reported on 17 September 2026 that more than 1,000 Chinese companies now hold a licence in the free zone, a rise of 9.4% over 12 months. The announcement came alongside a record figure for non oil trade between the UAE and China: USD 111.5 billion in 2025, up 24.5% on the prior year.

The free zone recently ran a 3 city roadshow through Shanghai, Wuxi and Xi'an. It signed a partnership with the Xi'an Chamber of Commerce, agreed a framework with the Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment, and launched a Chinese language edition of its Future of Trade 2026 report.

Where the companies operate

Over 60% of the Chinese companies at DMCC work in energy, engineering and machinery, or technology and telecommunications. Every licence must be registered to an address in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, from a shared desk to full floors, as tracked through apartments to rent in JLT listings.
