AFP expands its Dubai Media City office: what a 30 year tenant staying put says about the free zone

An expanded Agence France-Presse office opened in Dubai Media City on 17 September 2026, the same day the Arab Media Summit closed elsewhere in the city. Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, toured the newsroom.
The opening was attended by French ambassador to the UAE Marie Audouard, French consul general in Dubai Jean-Christophe Paris, and AFP Global News Director Phil Chetwynd.
AFP has operated in Dubai for more than 30 years. The enlarged office serves as one of AFP's main editing centres for the Middle East and as the base for its Gulf coverage. Chetwynd described Dubai as "a key location for AFP bridging the Middle East to Asia and Europe."
Dubai Media City continues to host the regional desks of most international broadcasters and wire services, and vacant floors in its original low rise buildings rarely stay on the market for long.
